ALL FOUR RISD HIGH SCHOOLS WERE RANKED among the top 3 percent in the nation by Newsweek magazine. J.J. Pearce was No. 255 and Richardson was No. 288. More than 26,000 schools were examined in the report, which looked at how hard the staff worked to challenge students with Advanced Placement and dual credit courses.
THE SHARE HIGH SCHOOL EXCHANGE PROGRAM is searching for host families for the fall semester. The program includes students from more than 30 countries and aims to get kids enrolled in school this month. The students speak English and have spending money and health insurance. RICHARDSON HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL PLAYERS hosted a benefit Hit-a-Thon earlier this summer, raising $2,675 for RISD alumnus Kevin Woods in need of a kidney transplant. His mother, Diana Woods, has worked at Westwood Junior High for 11 years.
