NorthBark Park, our newest dog park, opened for pups and their owners less than a month ago. Funds for the more than $2 million park came from 2003 and 2006 bonds, a Collin Country grant and capital gifts, according to the parks department.
The park has two separate, fenced-in areas – one for small dogs and one for large dogs. Since the weather will reach triple digits soon, the pond makes this a refreshing outing for dogs who like to get their paws wet. Just don’t forget to grab a towel on your way out the door.
On those hotter days, there also is protection for us humans. The park has seating inside both fenced-in areas, many of which are shaded by trees. If you’re in the mood to have a family picnic with the dogs, there’s a covered area with tables.
NorthBark Park is at the southeast corner of the Dallas North Tollway and the George Bush Turnpike. The park is open from dawn to dusk and closes on Tuesdays for maintenance.
We also have the popular Wagging Tail Dog Park at Preston and Keller Springs, which opened in 2010. It recently striped more parking spaces near the entrance along westbound Keller Springs to better accommodate more visitors.
