The three-day Taste Addison festival features samplings from more than 60 local restaurants, plus carnival rides, children’s activities and live music. The event runs 6 p.m.-midnight Friday, noon-midnight Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday at Addison Circle Park. Admission is $5-$15.
Richardson’s Wildflower Arts and Music Festival brings a wide selection of musical acts all weekend long, including Nelly, Dashboard Confessional, Augustana, Mark Chesnutt and several tribute bands for The Beatles, Abba and The Cure. It all happens at Galatyn Park. Tickets are $30 for the weekend and $20 per day with certain discounts available.
Valley House Gallery & Sculpture Garden presents sculptor Deborah Ballard and her recent work “Alter Ego.” It opens with a garden party 1-4 p.m. Sunday. Ballard will give an artist talk at 11 a.m. Saturday. The exhibit runs through June 16. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Admission is free.
Take time this weekend to clean out your file cabinets for a good cause. The JJ Pearce marching band hosts Shred-a-thon 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday in the school parking lot. There’s a suggested donation of $5-$10 for each banker-sized box of documents. Proceeds benefit the Pearce, Parkhill and North bands.
