Dirt won’t fly for years, but Beck Ventures is still working on breathing life back into Valley View.
Starting in July, the mall will host the Midtown Food Truck Fest on the third weekend of every month. The events will feature indoor and outdoor activities, and more than 12,000 people are expected to attend.
Inside the mall, there will be live music, a beer garden, bounce houses, a mechanical bull, carousel, vendor booths and an art fair. Outside with the food trucks, there will be bungee trampolines and radio giveaways near the JC Penny parking garage.
Beck Ventures purchased the struggling mall in April with a $2 billion redevelopment plan that will resemble the Shops at Legacy in Plano or the Bishop Arts District in Oak Cliff. They’re calling it Dallas Midtown. The plan is to recapture tenants inside the existing mall and then turn the building inside out to create an walkable, urban village.
The first Midtown Food Truck Fest is set for July 20-22. The hours are 5-9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday.
