There’s an organization based right here in Far North Dallas that is helping Parkinson patients find their voices again. We profiled the Parkinson Voice Project founder Samantha Elandary back in 2009, and a couple of Richardson High School students made a documentary about the program. Since then, they have expanded to Oklahoma.
PVP provides coaching for patients who have lost the ability to speak or swallow, another unfortunate symptom of Parkinson Disease. Starting next week, the center will offer free monthly informational sessions for the community, including a lecture and video presentation.
The sessions will take place at 9:30 a.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month through November. Sign up here.
